Nathan Abrams is an On\u00f6ndowa\u2019ga:\u2019 journalist, born and raised on the Seneca Nation of Indians\u2019 Ohi:yo\u2019 territory in southwestern New York state.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his work, he seeks to connect contemporary Indigenous experiences to the historical contexts from which they emerge. His primary focus is highlighting the living practice of arts, culture and foodways throughout Haudenosaunee territories by centering the voices of those within the communities who do this vital work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Abrams earned his bachelor’s degree in magazine journalism from Syracuse University\u2019s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.<\/span><\/p>\n

Adrianna Adame is a freelance writer and journalist who is passionate about reporting on underrepresented communities and the social issues that affect people within them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Adrianna was awarded the Graduate Newspaper Fellowship for Minorities to study at Syracuse University\u2019s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications to complete her MA in journalism.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, Adrianna is working as an intern at Syracuse.com. She also writes lifestyle and pop culture articles at POPSUGAR and Flique Editorial. Eventually, Adrianna wants to become an investigative journalist to report on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Children.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joseph is an Aquinnah Wampanoag writer from Massachusetts and has lived in New York City for over ten years. He has an MFA in nonfiction writing from Columbia University. He also teaches creative writing at Mercy College. He is currently an Indigenous Affairs Fellow at Grist, where he writes about the intersection of Indigenous communities and the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shana Lombard is a member of the Cowlitz Tribe, a Yakama descendant and white American. She received a degree in multimedia journalism from Washington State University\u2019s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication in 2020. Based in Grayland, Washington, she works in the communications department for a local Indigenous nation. Lombard previously reported for the Indian Leader at Haskell Indian Nations University.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While in college, Lombard was the master control operator for Cable 8 Productions, camera operator for Coug Vision, <\/span>production assistant 6 News Lawrence, <\/span>and a showrunner for a day for ESPN. She won best documentary by the American Indian Higher Education Consortium in 2017. She also won best news photo and best feature photo in the student division for the National Native Media Awards in 2017.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

JoVonne Wagner is from the Blackfeet Nation and is an intern reporter for <\/span>Buffalo\u2019s Fire<\/span><\/a>, an Indigenous focused publication. She will be graduating this fall from the University of Montana’s <\/span>School of Journalism<\/span><\/a>. Her professional interests include Indigneous storytelling and multimedia journalism. She enjoys sci-fi and fantasy movies including Star Wars. <\/span><\/p>\n
